State Nurses Associations

Each of the state nurses associations have some type of a link on the internet

Each of the state nurses associations have some type of a link on the internet. Many of them have a “full service” website with all the links, FAQ pages and webmaster contact info you would expect from a website. Others merely have a page listing their mailing address, telephone contact information and a brief statement about their mission. Frequently these types of “contact info web pages” can only be found on the listing of state nurses associations hosted by the American Nurses Association. The resources required to run an active website have been allocated to other endeavors.

Alabama Nurses Association
The Alabama State Nurses' Association was incorporated March 24, 1914, by a group of nurses interested in; promoting the professional and educational advancement of nurses, elevating the standards of nursing education, and establishing and maintaining a code of ethics among nurses.

Alaska Nurses Association
The mission of the Alaska Nurses Association is to work for the improvement of health standards and availability of health services for all people, foster high standards for nursing, stimulate and promote the professional development of nurses, and advance their economic and general welfare.

Arizona Nurses Association
The purpose of AzNA shall be to foster high standards of nursing practice, promote the professional and educational advancement of nurses, and promote the welfare of nurses to the end that all people may have better nursing care. These purposes and the membership of AzNA shall be unrestricted in accordance with ANA bylaws.

Arkansas Nurses Association Promote excellence in nursing through professional development, shape health policy, and support the professional nurse in the workplace environment.

California Nurses Association
Membership in the California Nurses Association (CNA) is available to registered nurses only. As a member of CNA, you will have a unique opportunity to become a part of the vanguard group of healthcare professionals, setting the standard of healthcare advocacy in California and across the nation. CNA offers you a state-wide network of Registered Nurses, working with community and consumer groups to continually analyze and improve the ever-changing healthcare environment.

Colorado Nurse Association
The Colorado Nurses Association (CNA) has been a strong voice for registered nurses in our state for over 90 years. When you become a member of CNA, you join thousands of other nurses throughout Colorado and across the country in supporting and protecting our profession

Connecticut Nurses Association
The Connecticut Nurses' Association (CNA) established in 1904 as the professional organization of registered nurses in Connecticut, is a constituent member of the American Nurses Association. Therefore, a member of CNA automatically has access to benefits and opportunities to participate on all levels of the Association: national (ANA), state (CNA) and Regional Councils.

Delaware Nurses Association
The DNA represents the interest of professional nurses in the state of Delaware. The DNA also advocates for health care issues through legislative channels and regulatory activity, resulting in positive outcomes for all Delawareans.

District of Columbia Nurses Association
mailing address for the DC Nurses Association and the Nurse Practioner Association. I have not been able to find an actual website listed for the District of Columbia Nurses Association. The District of Columbia Nurses Association was founded in 1903 as the Graduate Nurses Association of the District of Columbia, with objectives of promoting the advancement of the educational standards of nursing and adopting a code of professional ethics. The organization is now a major lobbyist for nursing legislation on both the local and federal levels. It is also a collective bargaining agent for nurses in the District, and is a member of the American Nurses Association.

Florida Nurses Association
The Florida Nurses Association as a constituent of the American Nurses Association is the only nursing organization representing ALL of nursing regardless of specialty or practice area. We speak on behalf of nursing in Tallahassee as well as before many regulatory bodies. We are a strong voice for the nurses of Florida fueled by the strength and commitment of the professional nurses who comprise our membership.

Georgia Nurses Association
Founded nearly a century ago for the purpose of uniting our profession, GNA is the state's largest professional nursing association for registered nurses in all practice settings. GNA has provided enormous support to advance the profession as a whole and nurses as individuals

Hawaii Nurses Association
its founding in 1917, to the present, Hawaii Nurses' Association (HNA) has served as the organization for nursing in Hawaii and continually strives to preserve the identity, integrity, and core values of the profession of nursing. HNA is the only-full service professional organization representing Hawaii’s 10,000 registered nurses.

Idaho Nurses Association
To foster high standards of nursing practice, promote the professional educational advancement of nurses, and promote the welfare of nurses to the end that all people may have better nursing care.

Illinois Nurses Association
The purpose of the Illinois Nurses Association, the professional nursing organization, is to; improve health standards and influence the delivery of quality health care services for all people, foster high standards for nursing, stimulate and promote the professional development of nurses and advance their economic and general welfare.

Indiana Nurses Association
The Indiana State Nurses Association is the professional organization for Indiana's registered nurses. The Association was organized in 1903 to secure a nurse practice act to protect the citizens of Indiana. For 100 years we have been promoting and protecting nurses, the nursing profession and those who receive nursing care.

Iowa Nurses Association
The Iowa Nurses Association is the professional organization of registered nurses in Iowa. The mission is to promote professional nursing, to provide a unified voice in Iowa, and to advocate for the health and well-being of all people.

Kansas Nurses Association
The Kansas State Nurses Association is the professional organization for registered nurses in Kansas. It is a constituent of the American Nurses Association. The primary purpose of KSNA is to provide direction and a voice for the profession of nursing and nurses as leaders in health care.

Kentucky Nurses Association
Established in 1906, (KNA) is the only full-service professional organization for the state's entire nurse population. In addition to its role to promote the essential role of the registered nurse in health care delivery, the Association serves as an advocate for quality patient care in all settings. From the halls of Frankfort and state agencies to boardrooms, hospitals and other health care facilities, KNA is the strong voice for the nursing profession in Kentucky.

Louisiana Nurses Association
The purposes of the LSNA shall be to: work for the improvement of health care services for all people, and foster high standards of nursing, and stimulate and promote the professional development of nurses.

Maine Nurses Association
The Maine State Nurses Association has been incorporated since 1914 and MSNA has played an integral role in solidifying the place of nurses in Maine's health care delivery system. Nurses, working through MSNA, have exercised autonomy, accountability and authority. MSNA's involvement in legislative and political issues has created positive changes in nursing practice, educational preparation of the nurse and in the quality and economics of all levels of health care.

Maryland Nurses Association
The Maryland Nurses Association will foster the development and advancement of nursing practice and will work to achieve quality health care for all the people of Maryland.

Massachusetts Nurses Association
Founded in 1903 and celebrating 100 years, the MNA is the largest and most powerful professional health care association and the largest union of registered nurses in Massachusetts. Its 20,000+ members comprise every role of nursing practice, working in more than 85 different health care facilities across the state.

Michigan Nurses Association
The Michigan Nurses Association, a constituent of the American Nurses Association, is the largest professional association and labor union for registered nurses in the state of Michigan. It provides educational opportunities and comprehensive services that advance the professional and economic interests of registered nurses.

Minnesota Nurses Association

Mississippi Nurses Association
The Mississippi Nurses' Association was founded in 1911 by a group of ten nurses at the Natchez Hospital in Natchez, Mississippi. The organization was then known as the Mississippi State Association of Graduate Nurses and was chaired by Ms. Jennie Quinn known as the first president of MNA. At the time nursing was not regulated by governmental policy. Nurses were trained on the job by physicians or other nurses and rarely had formal education. MNA became the voice for nursing during these times of professional evolution.

Missouri Nurses Association
The Missouri Nurses Association (MONA) is a constituent member of the American Nurses Association. Founded in 1906, MONA is the professional organization for registered nurses in Missouri, represents Missouri registered nurses, and speaks on behalf of professional nurses in Missouri. The Missouri Nurses Association is the only full-service professional organization representing the state's 55,000 licensed registered nurses.

Montana Nurses Association
The Montana Nurses' Association promotes professional nursing practice, standards and education; represents professional nurses; and provides nursing leadership in promoting high quality health care.

Nebraska Nurses Association
The professional association for registered nurses in Nebraska. For nearly 100 years, NNA has represented nurses and the professional through legislation, political action, professional development and professional security. NNA represents nurses working together for the improvement of health standards and availability of health care services for all people

Nevada Nurses Association
The mission of the Nevada Nurses Association is to advocate for the profession of nursing, representing the collective voices of registered nurses. Established in 1920 NNA is a constituent of the American Nurses Association.

New Hampshire Nurses Association
The New Hampshire Nurses' Association, as a constituent member of the American Nurses Association, exists to promote the practice of professional nursing, advance the development of professional nurses, and improve the health standards and availability of health services for all people of New Hampshire.

New Jersey Nurses Association
In accordance with its philosophy and bylaws the New Jersey State Nurses Association (NJSNA), comprised of professional nurses, advances the profession, delineating the practice of nursing through standard setting, education and research, formulating public policy and fostering excellence and quality of health delivery in the State of New Jersey.

New Mexico Nurses Association
The New Mexico Nurses Association (NMNA), was founded on November 8, 1921 by a group of nursing leaders concerned that New Mexico was one of only two states without laws regulating the practice of nursing. NMNA is a constituent of the American Nurses Association, is the professional organization representing all registered nurses in New Mexico. There are approximately 16,000 Registered Nurses in New Mexico.

New York Nurses Association
The history of the New York State Nurses Association is the story of a quest to advance the profession of nursing and protect the public. Founded in 1901 as the country’s first state nurses association, NYSNA established itself as the standard bearer in the continuous struggle to upgrade the profession.

North Carolina Nurses Association
NCNA represents interests of all registered nurses and is the official voice for the registered nurse in North Carolina. NCNA maintains a registered nurse lobbyist in the General Assembly when the legislature is in session, and monitors study committees and other legislative groups between sessions.

North Dakota Nurses Association
NDNA is the professional association for Registered Nurses in North Dakota. NDNA's purpose is to foster high standards for nursing practice, stimulate and promote the professional development of nurses, and to work for the improvement of health standards and availability of health care services for all people.

Ohio Nurses Association
The Ohio Nurses Association is the professional, voluntary membership association for Ohio's registered nurses. It is the link to the largest nursing network in the world.

Oklahoma Nurses Association
The Oklahoma Nurses Association is the professional organization for nurses in the state. Its mission is to serve the educational, informational, professional and advocacy needs of all nurses. The Oklahoma Nurses Association promotes public policy to best serve the nursing profession, the healthcare community, and the public.

Oregon Nurses Association
The Oregon Nurses Association is the voice of nursing in Oregon. A professional association and labor union, ONA has stood for the integrity of the nursing profession for over 90 years and continues to represent thousands of registered nurses who are speaking up for improved patient care, better working conditions for all nurses, and quality health care delivery systems.

Rhode Island Nurses Association
The Rhode Island State Nurses Association (RISNA), a constituent member of the American Nurses Association (ANA), is the authority on matters concerning the profession of nursing and nursing practice in the state of Rhode Island. RISNA is dedicated to the promotion, advancement, and protection of nursing thereby improving the quality of and access to health care in Rhode Island.

South Carolina Nurses Association
The purpose of the association is to promote the professional status of nurses and to improve health care in South Carolina. SCNA works with standards of nursing and the public well being. SCNA is also a source of information for the nurse, the health care community and the public.

South Dakota Nurses Association
The South Dakota Nurses Association (SDNA), a constituent of the American Nurses Association, is a voluntary professional organization which provides equal opportunity for all Registered Nurses to promote nursing and to advance health care for all South Dakotans. Individual members participate through district and statewide activities to promote the profession of nursing.

Tennessee Nurses Association
The Tennessee Nurses Association (TNA) is the only full-service organization whose membership is open to any registered nurse licensed to practice. Since its establishment, TNA has remained a powerful force working for the advancement of the professional nurse in order to provide the citizens of this state with quality, cost-effective health care.

Texas Nurses Association
1907- Founded on February 22 in Fort Worth when a group of 19 Texas nurses met at the Medical College Building to organize a state association of graduate nurses. Named The Graduate Nurses' Association of the State of Texas, this first professional organization set out to seek state regulation of the practice and education of nursing. A newly-appointed Legislation Committee went to work to propose a bill for state registration of nurses.

Utah Nurses Association
The mission of UNA is to advocate for nursing individually and collectively in all aspects of professional practice thereby facilitating quality care.

Vermont Nurses Association
Vermont State Nurses' Association, Inc. (VSNA) has been the voice of Vermont registered nurses since 1914. Through VSNA, registered nurses can be involved in the decisions that allow you to practice the profession of nursing: health care, practice, and workplace legislation; practice standards and ethics; workplace issues including occupational health and safety.

Virginia Nurses Association
The Virginia Nurses Association is the largest membership organization for nurses in Virginia, and is the constituent member of the American Nurses Association (ANA). The VNA has been representing registered nurses in the Commonwealth since 1901.

Washington Nurses Association
Founded in 1908 the Washington State Nurses Association (WSNA) is a constituent of the American Nurses Association. WSNA represents and promotes the professional development of almost 16,000 nurses.
