Registered Nurse Practitioner
The Registered Nurse Practitioner is an independent role. While other advanced nurse specialties work under the direct supervision of an MD or Surgeon the RNP is completely independent in practice. Within the scope of their practice they evaluate, diagnose, treat and even prescribe medications. Medical conditions and injuries beyond their scope are referred to the appropriate medical practitioner.
